FAQs About Our Tele-Dentistry Platform

We want to make sure that we answer all of your most important questions! Below, we have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions about the tab32 tele-dentistry platform:


How is tele-dentistry useful beyond the scope of COVID-19? The implications for using tele-dentistry during COVID-19 are clear, but this is just the beginning of a new era. Once your office reopens, you can implement tele-dentistry to perform consultations (for new patients, sleep apnea, Invisalign®, cosmetic dentistry, etc.), emergency or off-hour visits, and help ease phobic patients who want to meet the dentist before coming to the office. 

Is the tele-dentistry platform HIPAA compliant? Yes. All of tab32’s products are HIPAA compliant.  


Does the tab32 tele-dentistry software integrate with any other practice management software (PMS)? No. tab32 has its own PMS. The idea is getting dentists access to their patients with an end-to-end platform. Server-based technology isn't capable of meeting these needs.

Will insurance reimburse my tele-dental appointments? Of course this depends on the patient's individual insurance plan, but many insurances are now accepting tele-dentistry codes.

Can you collect patient insurance before the video chat? Yes. The tab32 tele-dentistry platform allows you to send your patient customized forms prior to their visit!

Can you bill for both the limited exam and the tele-dentistry codes? Yes, you can. Again, the reimbursement will depend on the individual insurance plan.

Do I have to require payments from patients for the video consultations? No. The system is flexible.

Can I bypass the billing portion? Yes, you are free to use only the features you need! 


Are tele-dentistry visits secure? Yes. The appointment link is only valid 5 mins before and 5 mins after the appointment and is not reusable. The system is designed this way to keep the patient's information secure. 

Can you send bulk emails within the system? Yes, you can use it to notify your existing patients of your new tele-dental option! 

Will I receive a notification when a patient books an appointment online? Yes, you will get a notification in your email and/or cell phone, depending on the preferences you set.

Can I send out automated appointment reminders, confirmations and follow-up notifications? Yes, everything is automated across the patient journey.

Can a tele-dental visit replace the initial exam? It totally can! This is a great way to do initial consultations.

Would this be something providers can use to communicate with one another? Sure! We do not restrict who you set up appointments with.

Does the  tele-visit video get stored for my reference? At this time videos are not recorded and stored.

What is the difference between Sync vs Asyn? When a patient sends you pre-made videos or photos, that is Async. Sync refers to a live feed video.
